450 gr zucchero a velo
15 gr burro
30 gr acqua
20 gr glucosio
30 gr miele

* Riflessioni zuccherose *

- English Version -
And then the long-awaited day arrived, the one I've been waiting for months, in which I was committed to find every kind of excuse to be there .. I'm talking about the Snow White musical!
What??? I love Disney musical, but I needed someone under five feet to take with me to pretend being just the companion, not the active spectator .. Well my excuse, that means my niece, who is already famous in this blog, had the flu so I went alone.
The beginning was not the best: I was already embarrassed when I sat behind a little girl of no more than ten years that muttered, "but had to sit this one right here?".
I turned with a look of "I do not accept comments from bottle stoppers" and I turned over with the purpose of shouting over the phone with my sister and her offspring. Offspring that, among other things, the day before told me that it would come only as a favor to ME.
I can’t believe it ..
Ok, it's a bit true that I begged her, but just because she didn’t know what she was loosing, while I have seen very beautiful musicals like Beauty and the Beast or The Lion King and I know it is definitely worth it! However, she rushed voluntarily to Highschool Musical and Hanna Montana!
Ah, this new generation! =)

The recipe I propose today is designed for my niece’s last birthday, because she loves dogs and animals in general.
In my experience it was the first time eleven years old children noticed the birthday cake and asked who had done it! They all came to congratulate me, it was so cute!
Well, what I mean is that if you have children that love animals, this cake is to be taken into consideration!

Sponge cake recipe for a cake pan of 24 cm

300 g flour
300 g sugar
6 eggs
1 tablespoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Whip eggs and sugar for at least 15 minutes.
Slowly add the flour and baking powder.
Grease and flour the cake pan and bake at 250 degrees for 25 minutes.
(I’m never tired to repeat that degrees are merely approximate, you have to know your own oven, because mine is a little weak and I have to opt for these solutions, but for leavened dough 180° should be enough. Either way you will realize that the sponge is ready because it will detach from the edges of the pan)

Recipe for the stuffing and cover

1 liter fresh cream
4 tablespoons of icing sugar
500 gr strawberries
a bit of milk
few drops of vanilla extract
a bit of pink dye

Whip the cream with the sugar. Add the colorant and the strawberries into small pieces and mix from the bottom upwards to not damage the cream.
Wet both discs of sponge that you’ve cut before with milk flavored with vanilla and spread the cream. Close the cake and spread with the other 500 ml of whipped cream.

Recipe for sugar paste (from the video of Greedy)

450 g icing sugar
15 g butter
30 g water
20 g glucose
30 g honey
2 sheets gelatin
Dye for the “sheets” where the dog is
A little bit of cocoa powder to colour the dog

Soak the gelatin in 30 grams of water for 10 minutes.
After you put it in a pan (with all the water), honey, glucose and butter.
Melt over low heat and pour everything on icing sugar. Do not be afraid, knead quickly and the paste will be formed immediately!
At this point, use your imagination!

* More Sugar than Sense Reflections *
The sugar paste is veeery sweet, so is great for decorating, but not to eat  in a whole cake slice, so I decided to balance it adding little sugar  in the filling, that in fact is very fruity. I was afraid my niece could be a bit disappointed, but she appreciated cream more than chocolate! I told you in this post that her tastes are weird =P
